80 up the creek

PADDLERS from Queensland to the ACT are limbering up for the annual Wallamba River Marathon.

More than 80 kayakers are expected to line the shore at Shalimar, near Failford this Sunday. The race is split into three gruelling divisions – the 10km, 15km and a punishing 20km.

Just Paddles Inc.’s Elizabeth van Reece was excited about the format.

“It’s a great all-weather course. Because it’s a 5km course spectators have a great opportunity to see the paddlers up close.”

The race starts 10am, and competitors sign on from 8. For more information call Elizabeth on 6554 1612.
