Load lights up

2/07/2008 11:28:00 AM
TWO fire trucks and three ambulances were called to Tuncurry’s Taree St on Sunday, all over a load of fluff.

A clothes dryer caught fire and filled a two-storey building with smoke, and Forster Fire Brigade’s Paul Langley said a pile of lint was the likely culprit.

“It appears a build-up of fluff ignited and the smoke activated the building’s smoke detectors,” he said.

“The occupants had extinguished the dryer when fire crews arrived, and there was no serious damage.”

Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but no-one needed to be hospitalised.

Fire crews helped ventilate the building and made sure the dryer was completely extinguished. The laundry suffered minor damage, and someone’s wardrobe suffered a major setback.
