GREAT Lakes photographer Keith Davies has taken out first prize in the prestigious Queensland National Circuit at Redcliffe with his stunning image The Burning Ghats India.
The image will now contest the second part of the exhibition in Redlands later this month.
The Burning Ghats India has also been awarded numerous other awards.
The photograph recently won the Taree Photography club competition and was voted to represent the club in the Northern Zone before being entered into the Queensland competition.
It was awarded a score of 14 points out of a possible 15 in the Northern Zone competition.
“At the moment I am awaiting the results from more competitions including the second Tasmanian National Super Circuit and the 33rd APS National,” Keith said.
The image is made up of three separate photographs depicting everyday life in India.
“Late last year, after a month’s holiday in India I found I had a lot of acceptable images which have had some success in other competitions,” Keith said.
The photograph was described by one judge as ‘a most powerful image’ and was accepted into the 95th international exhibition in Southampton in the United Kingdom. Keith is a member of several photographic clubs, including the Australian Photographic Society and the Photographic Society of America.
“I am also a member of Terra Australis, an exclusive club where membership is by invitation only,” Keith said.
There are only 17 members from all over the country in Terra Australis.
Six members are well-known photographers from Forster who compete in both national and international competitions.
